An intensive course focusing on a range of woodworking & joinery skills leading to a Level 2 City and Guilds Diploma in Bench Joinery (C&G 6706-26)
This City & Guilds qualification is aimed at people wishing to learn some skills in carpentry and joinery, to progress on to becoming skilled in their chosen trade, or to progress through an apprenticeship and work towards becoming a master craftsman.
This bench joinery course can also be taken as the first element of our boatbuilding course no previous experience of woodworking is necessary.
Practical from day one, it will introduce you to different types of wood, their properties and uses. You will develop your hand tool skills: basic marking out & joinery techniques; care and use of hand and power tools with particular emphasis on sharpening and setting up; set up and operation of workshop machinery; learn the principles of building construction, information, communication and Health, Safety and welfare in construction.
