Mike has been invited to join a panel of experts to discuss a shipwreck that was recently unearthed on a Suffolk beach!
The talk, arranged by 4D Heritage will take place as a free online event on Thursday 4th March between 6-7pm – if you’re interested in local or maritime history, boat building, archaeology, shipwrecks or beach treasure, come and join us – click here to register.
The fascinating and historic wreck is made up of 2 possibly 3 layers of heavy planking held to a thick frame with trenails (wooden nails).
Mike will be joined by BBC ‘Coast’ presenter and historian Prof Mark Horton and seafarer and historian Nicholas Mellor.
The panel will discuss what sort of ship it might have been, what it tells us about the history and future of this coast and the emerging technologies transforming the way we can document such artefacts.
